CADCA Presentation

On Tuesday February 3rd students of Dover Youth to Youth and Dr. David Jernigan, Director of the Center on Alcohol Marketing and Youth presented “Alcohol Marketing and Youth: Research Findings and Youth-led Counter-marketing” at the CADCA conference. The presentation talked about the latest research in alcohol advertising and strategies to reduce or counter the influence of alcohol marketing on young people. Dover Youth to Youth will at the CADCA Conference in Washington DC next week. Be sure to check us out for some great deals and FREE stuff!

Students of Dover Youth to Youth and Dr. David Jernigan, Director of the Center on Alcohol Marketing and Youth will be presenting “Alcohol Marketing and Youth: Research Findings and Youth-led Counter-marketing.” The presentation will talk about the latest research in alcohol advertising and strategies to reduce or counter the influence of alcohol marketing on young people. Check out the presentation on Tuesday afternoon from 3:30-4:45 in Chesapeake D-F.

Summer Advocacy Camp 2014

On July 7-11 Dover Youth to Youth held its annual Summer Training Camp for new members at the McConnell Center. Nearly 30 prospective new Youth to Youth members participated in this year’s training. In addition, staff and students from Rochester and Milton attended.

During the week, these students received a wide variety of drug prevention presentations, received advocacy skills training, and engaged in a wide assortment of prevention projects and activities. (more…)

Local Parents Invited to presentation by Kathi & Chris Sullivan at SHS

Speak Up, Stand Out: Kathi and Chris Sullivan to Speak to Parents about Dangers of Underage Drinking and Drug Abuse.

The Strafford County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Dover Police Department’s Youth to Youth program, will be bringing Kathi and Chris Sullivan to speak to parents and the community on Wednesday April 30th at the Somersworth High School located at 11 Memorial Drive in Somersworth, NH from 6:30-8:00 pm.

Y2Y Zombies Promote the Drug Take Back Day

articleZombie1On Saturday October 26th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Dover Police Department, Dover Coalition for Youth and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) gave the public another opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. The Youth to Youth Zombie demonstration held 3 days prior to the take back was designed to make the point that – if you think Zombies are scary – just look inside your medicine cabinet. (more…)

Summer Advocacy Camp 2013

Kelleys RowOn July 8-12 Dover Youth to Youth held its annual Summer Training Camp for new members at the McConnell Center. Twenty-four prospective new Youth to Youth members participated in this year’s training. In addition, staff and students from the Derry, NH drug prevention coalition also attended the training.

During the week, these students received a wide variety of drug prevention presentations, received advocacy skills training, and engaged in a wide assortment of prevention projects and activities. Some of these activities included:

• Placed information stickers on alcohol products in local grocery stores;
• Conducted several presentations to youngsters in local day care centers and camps – including the Ice Arena’s Camp Kool;
• Conducted a presentation to student’s parents at the end of the week;
• Held an informational demonstration and press conference in downtown Dover announcing a new focus on Y2Y’s Fridge Campaign over the next year. This effort will include broad media and educational efforts to get parents to lock up or monitor the alcohol in their home if they have young kids. (more…)

2013 Annual Banquet

DSCN0245Dover Youth to Youth recently held its annual awards banquet at the Dover Lodge of Elks. This year’s banquet recognized the conclusion of Youth to Youth’s 21st year of activism in the community and celebrated the accomplishments of the student group over the last year.

More than 90 students and family members attended the event held at the Dover Lodge of Elks and several students received an award or scholarship. (more…)
