CADCA Presentation

On Tuesday February 3rd students of Dover Youth to Youth and Dr. David Jernigan, Director of the Center on Alcohol Marketing and Youth presented “Alcohol Marketing and Youth: Research Findings and Youth-led Counter-marketing” at the CADCA conference. The presentation talked about the latest research in alcohol advertising and strategies to reduce or counter the influence of alcohol marketing on young people. Summer Advocacy Camp 2014

On July 7-11 Dover Youth to Youth held its annual Summer Training Camp for new members at the McConnell Center. Nearly 30 prospective new Youth to Youth members participated in this year’s training. In addition, staff and students from Rochester and Milton attended.

During the week, these students received a wide variety of drug prevention presentations, received advocacy skills training, and engaged in a wide assortment of prevention projects and activities. (more…)

Kelsey Shaughnessy Presents at Our Parent Program!

Yesterday, November 12, marked the end of our first set of presentations to the parents of our DARE participants. For these presentations, however, we had a brand new face – Kelsey Shaughnessy! Summer Advocacy Camp 2013

Kelleys RowOn July 8-12 Dover Youth to Youth held its annual Summer Training Camp for new members at the McConnell Center. Twenty-four prospective new Youth to Youth members participated in this year’s training. In addition, staff and students from the Derry, NH drug prevention coalition also attended the training.

During the week, these students received a wide variety of drug prevention presentations, received advocacy skills training, and engaged in a wide assortment of prevention projects and activities. Some of these activities included:

• Placed information stickers on alcohol products in local grocery stores;
• Conducted several presentations to youngsters in local day care centers and camps – including the Ice Arena’s Camp Kool;
• Conducted a presentation to student’s parents at the end of the week;
• Held an informational demonstration and press conference in downtown Dover announcing a new focus on Y2Y’s Fridge Campaign over the next year. This effort will include broad media and educational efforts to get parents to lock up or monitor the alcohol in their home if they have young kids. (more…)
