Local Parents Invited to presentation by Kathi & Chris Sullivan at SHS

Speak Up, Stand Out: Kathi and Chris Sullivan to Speak to Parents about Dangers of Underage Drinking and Drug Abuse.

The Strafford County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Dover Police Department’s Youth to Youth program, will be bringing Kathi and Chris Sullivan to speak to parents and the community on Wednesday April 30th at the Somersworth High School located at 11 Memorial Drive in Somersworth, NH from 6:30-8:00 pm.

Y2Y Zombies Promote the Drug Take Back Day

articleZombie1On Saturday October 26th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Dover Police Department, Dover Coalition for Youth and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) gave the public another opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. The Youth to Youth Zombie demonstration held 3 days prior to the take back was designed to make the point that – if you think Zombies are scary – just look inside your medicine cabinet. (more…)

Students Launch Year Long Fridge Campaign

DSCN0261On July 10th over fifty youth advocates from Dover Youth to Youth launched a year-long underage drinking prevention campaign designed to educate parents about where young kids most often get their alcohol the first few times they drink.
This campaign is based on a Dover survey of 1,600 students. In that survey kids were asked where they got the alcohol for the first few drinking experiences. The number one answer was: from their home or the home of a friend. We believe that alcohol is too easily accessible by youth and decided to raise awareness among parents so they will take steps to prevent their kids from being tempted to try it. (more…)
